Why we Love Cairns White Water Rafting
Raft within the stunning Barron Gorge National Park surrounded by ancient rainforest.
This is the perfect activity for those looking for fun and excitement and you only need half a day to fit it in.The Barron River offers Grade 2-3 rapids which are perfect for beginners and lots of thrills for those who have rafted before.
Your day will include the following highlights;
- Grade 2-3 Rapids
- 2 Hours of Rafting
- Fun with your Experienced Guides
- Pass through stunning rainforest scenery
Departs/Returns:
- Pick-ups: 2:00pm Cairns / 1:15pm Port Douglas
- Returns (approx.): 5:30pm Cairns / 6:30pm Port Douglas
*Morning rafting with pick-ups from 8:00am is seasonal (please enquire)

What you need:
- Swimwear & Towel
- Change of clothes
- Cash (snacks, souvenirs, photos)
- A GoPro style camera can be taken with helmet or chest mounts
- Shoes (they must have a backstrap) – No thongs (shoe hire $5)
- Hat and Sunglasses with secure strap.
- Please consider a Re-useable/Sustainable Water Bottle
- Please use Reef/Coral Safe Sunscreen (do not apply to legs for rafting)
Itinerary
Rafting itinerary:
(This is an example itinerary of a typical trip)
- 2:00pm – Pick up from Cairns accommodation / 1:15pm Port Douglas
- 2:30pm – Arrive at Barron Gorge National Park and meet your river guide
- 3:00pm – Time to enjoy some white water with 2 hours of rafting fun
- 5:00pm – Finishing point and return transfers to Cairns or Port Douglas.

VIP Rafting on the Barron River

Important Info
River Safety:
- All participants will be required to sign a liability release form prior to the trip commencing.
- Minimum age: 12 years, under 18 years guardian or parent must sign liability release form
- Rafting is not suitable for anyone who is pregnant
- No experience required – Full tuition given
- Please note that some medical conditions, disabilities and impairments may exclude participants from rafting for safety reasons, e.g. pregnancy and serious vision impairments. Passengers should disclose any medical condition, disabilities and impairments at time of booking.
Important Information:
- Minimum 8 persons to operate
- The Mulgrave River may be used for half day rafting tours, when the Barron River is not available due to river levels or other reasons.
- Itineraries may be subject to change dependant on weather and other circumstances
- Prices are in Australian Dollars (AU$)
Cancellations / Refund Policy:
- If you cancel at least 3 days in advance of the scheduled departure, there is no cancellation fee.
- If you cancel within 48 hours of the scheduled departure, there is a 50 percent cancellation fee.
- If you cancel within 24 hours of the scheduled departure, there is a 100 percent cancellation fee.
- Unless otherwise stated all refunds will incur a 10% administration fee
