Mon Repos Turlte Express

Turtle Nesting and Hatching Experience

Why we Love Mon Repos Turtle Express Tours

Mon Repos Turtle Express Encounters is the only ranger-guided turtle encounter available on the east-coast and is instrumental in the research into turtle conservation, specifically the endangered Loggerhead turtles that frequent this beach.

Take an unrivalled peak behind the curtain of a natural wonder thousands of years in the making at Mon Repos Conservation Park.

Watch as mother turtles lay their clutches of eggs from November – January on a ranger-guided Mon Repos Turtle Encounter.

In January – March form a pathway to the ocean for the baby turtles as they begin their dangerous journey into adolescence with only 1 in 1000 turtles making it to maturity.

Come witness a miracle on a Mon Repos Turtle Encounter and create memories to last a lifetime.

Your evening will include the following highlights;

  • New multi-million dollar interpretive Mon Repos Turtle Centre
  • Junior Discovery area for children to explore
  • Nesting Turtles can be viewed after dark from November to January
  • Turtle hatchlings can be viewed at night from January to March

  • Access to the Turtle Centre
  • Safe & Comfortable Return Transport

What you need:
  • Warmer Clothes/Jumper or Hoodie

Wildlife Viewing in Nature:

Please be aware that although turtles appear most nights, there is always the possibility of there being no activity at all on any given night during the season due to the fact you are experiencing a natural encounter. The Mon Repos Turtle Encounter does operate until after midnight and while most of the Turtle Express groups do finish before this time, it is important that you are aware that the experience can finish late.

Terms & Conditions
  • There are no discounts for not using the transport portion of the Turtle Express.
  • The tour cost is non-refundable however a date change can be requested prior to the cut-off time of 11:00am on the day of travel. Transfer of your booking to a different date is not guaranteed as it is subject to availability.
  • Sightings are never guaranteed as turtles are classed as wild marine animals – some nights they may not show at all.  Therefore, refunds are not given if you do not actually see any turtle activity on the night of your booking. All fees go toward continuing turtle research as well as providing the centre’s displays and the films shown.
  • There are no set tour times and, once again, sightings can never be guaranteed.
  • By booking on the Turtle Express you are agreeing to return to the vehicle once your group has been on the beach and experienced the natural Turtle Encounter. No refund will be given if you choose to stay at the centre longer than the rest of your group and arrange alternate return transport.
  • The group you are in is automatically allocated based on booking order and cannot be changed. There is no service available that can change this allocation or guarantee which group you will be placed in. It is important to be aware no matter where you book, the Turtle Encounter is a natural encounter and therefore you may have to wait two hours or more before going down onto the beach. The total visit time at Mon Repos can be up to 6 hours.
  • Although turtles appear most nights, there is always the possibility of there being no activity at all on any given night during the season due to the fact you are experiencing a “natural encounter”. Rangers will bring guests down to the beach as soon as they can once they spot turtle activity. All turtle watching guidelines given by the rangers must be followed at all times. If a guest does not follow these guidelines, they may be asked to leave the Mon Repos Conservation Park at any time and without notice. In this instance, no refund will be granted.
  • Neither the Queensland Government nor Bundaberg Coaches or their affiliates offer any responsibility for guests or their belongings whilst at the Mon Repos Conservation Park.
  • Turtles are rarely affected by rain and as such the tour will operate in almost all weather conditions, including rain (but not in dangerous conditions). If tours are going to be cancelled, it will be a decision of the Mon Repos Rangers and Bundaberg Coaches will endeavour to contact all Turtle Express passengers to advise of this as early as is possible.
  • Child seats for infants/children are not supplied but can be fitted into all of our vehicles.
  • Smoking, alcohol & pets are not permitted at the Turtle Centre, surrounds and beach as Mon Repos is a Conservation Park.

Accessibility & Reasonable Physical Ability
  • Please be aware you may need to walk up to 1.6km return trip along the beach from the turtle centre to get to nesting & hatching sites. On the beach there will be water, soft sand, rocks, branches, sticks, and pebbles so it is recommended you wear closed in walking shoes or sand-shoes. While the group does move slowly to accommodate children and those with mobility issues, a reasonable physical ability is required.

Emergency Access

Please be aware that Mon Repos Beach has limited vehicle access in the event of an emergency.
