Meet your crew at the Cairns Reef Fleet Terminal and its all aboard the luxury catamaran for some morning tea and your Cairns Eco Reef Cruise! The captain will select two of 24 exclusive reef locations depending on the day’s conditions. Destinations will be chosen from: Flynn and Milne reef or further north at Norman and Hastings reefs. All offer diverse reef structures teeming with exotic marine life.
As the boat moors up, the friendly and experienced crew will guide you through an orientation briefing and assist you in getting fitted with snorkel or dive gear. You’ll feel excited and a little nervous as you take the plunge into the turquoise waters of the reef, but as soon as you get a glimpse of the underwater world, you’ll be blown away by the stunning colours and diversity of marine creatures.
Snorkel, dive or enjoy a swim in the water. Prefer to relax onboard; the upper sun desk is just perfect or kick back just above the water on the netted deck trampoline at the bow of the boat.
Experienced crew can provide complimentary guided snorkel tours, a wonderful option for those with no experience, or just a little nervous about open water.
Scuba Diving: a dedicated dive tender is available for the experienced certified divers who want to explore deeper waters. All certified divers receive a complimentary dive guide with experience helping find some of the Great Barrier Reefs special marine life.
Intro scuba diving is perfect for first-time divers and no previous experience is necessary. The crew are fully trained and qualified PADI professionals who provide the utmost care and patience with beginner divers.
After you’ve worked up an appetite, a delicious onboard chef prepared tropical buffet lunch will be served, featuring fresh and locally sourced hot and cold dishes including tropical fruits. Enjoy lunch while you can take in the stunning views of the reef and relax with a drink in hand.
Your Cairns Eco Reef Cruise also specialises in catering for all dietary requirements and is 100% vegan friendly (tell us about requirements in the booking details).
After lunch travel to the 2nd fabulous outer reef location for the day. This time you will have grown in confidence and really delve into exploring this underwater world. Keep your eyes wide open and expect to see marine life such as parrotfish, sea turtles and ‘nemo’ fish.
Joining the eco-marine life presentation offers the perfect chance learn about the various marine species that call the reef home, from colourful fish and majestic turtles to sharks and rays. You’ll also learn about the coral reef structure and its critical role in supporting marine life.
The onboard marine expert will also discuss the impact of climate change, pollution, and overfishing on the reef and highlight the efforts being taken to protect and preserve this natural wonder.
The final experience is sailing back to Cairns, feeling the warm breeze on your skin and the wind in your hair. The boat cuts through the waves, leaving the turquoise waters of the Great Barrier Reef behind. Take in the stunning views of the coastline and feel the sun on your face as you relax on the deck while being served afternoon tea. This is the perfect way to end your day on the reef – with the feeling of freedom and the sense of having experienced something truly unforgettable.
