When you book this experience you support Reef Restoration, a Cairns grassroots not-for-profit organisation focused on building resilience on the Great Barrier Reef by growing coral fragments in ocean-based nurseries, and collaborating with the marine tourism industry and the marine science fraternity.

Morning:
Board our eco-certified motorised sailing catamaran, Passions III, with a maximum of 12 participants in your group.
Meet your experienced and certified Master Reef Guide, a leading expert in reef interpretation and conservation. Your dedicated Master Reef Guide host will provide a personalised experience from start to finish.
Set sail to one of the many exclusive outer reef locations we have permits for.
Activity 1: Eye on the Reef Program
As part of your Cairns Marine Conservation Experience we contribute to ongoing reef monitoring by completing Sightings Network submissions and Rapid Monitoring Survey Reports for the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority.
Work closely with your Master Reef Guide as you survey reef locations and monitor the health of the ecosystem.
Gain hands-on experience in data collection and become an integral part of reef conservation efforts.
Activity 2: Coral Nurture Program
This activity is in collaborate with the University of Technology Sydney in monitoring Coral Planting initiatives.
Monitor the nurturing and restoration of coral reefs, playing a vital role in their preservation.
Learn about the importance of coral ecosystems and the challenges they face.
Afternoon:
Enjoy a delicious chef-prepared lunch onboard, all using fresh local ingredients.
Engage in marine biology discussions and gain insights from your knowledgeable guide.
Activity 3: Snorkelling and Exploration
Dive into the turquoise waters of the Great Barrier Reef, surrounded by stunning corals and diverse marine life.
Discover the mesmerising beauty of locations such as Whale Bommie and Three Sisters while spotting vibrant fish species, inquisitive turtles, and perhaps even catch a glimpse of white-tipped reef sharks.
Sailing Home:
Sail back to Cairns, reflecting on your invaluable contributions to reef conservation.
Share your experiences and observations with fellow participants, forging lasting connections.
Leave with a deepened understanding of the reef’s fragile ecosystem and the importance of its protection.

This trip rates 2 out of 5 meaning it includes some easy physical activities.
Snorkelling is a relatively low-intensity activity and does not require high levels of physical fitness to enjoy.
Please do tell us if you think any physical activities can aggravate a medical condition.
Upon boarding all guests will fill out a simple medical questionnaire that allows the crew the chance to offer many different kinds of personalised assistance throughout your day.
